THE AARP JOURNAL — SINGAPORE

For the third consecutive year, the annual edition of AARP’s prestigious publication, The Journal, featured an in-depth country study as part of an ongoing effort to understand and learn from age-friendly innovations around the world. ULTRA worked with AARP’s international team to cover the story of aging in Singapore, a small and forward-looking island nation.

Once again, our team spent weeks in-country, conducting interviews and photographing a range of places and programs. Our coverage (in words, pictures, and design) reflects Singapore’s diversity and vibrancy, as well as the lush greenery that has been engineered into every aspect of the city. Our cover concept, a sculpture of live plants in a cement structure built by hand, represents the juxtaposition of green spaces within an urban environment, and the careful cultivation of resources to create an environment in which people of all ages can flourish.
